Hello everyone. Welcome to my blog post.
First of all, I would like to start by saying that
I am very fond of languages even though HTML isn't
my favorite .English
for sure it is. Tech ‘nerds’ know the struggle of running a code or searching
for that mistake, a double space, or a punctuation mark. Is like searching the
niddle on the haystack.
During our lectures, we had time to discuss with
one another and share valuable information on how we can integrate technology
into our classrooms. Highlighting the fact that as language teachers technology
provides us with the necessary aid to create a successful learning environment.
I learned a few apps that can see myself using in the future ‘Akelius’ and ‘hot
potato’. The last one was boiling hot cause came together with assignments.
The world is evolving and technology has become an
integral part of sustaining society, and its infusion with education is
therefore inevitable. I would say that pedagogy is the driver, and technology
is the accelerator. Fasten your seatbelt because I am about to elaborate on
this.
Back in the day, I remember the teacher talked and we listened. We had to memorize quite a lot too. Most of the time being in rows as close as possible to the blackboard because talk and chalk were the way to interwind new information with the previous one. We did have calculators and some old phones and that’s it. In less than 10 years period of time, I witnessed drastic changes. Things evolved and with it the methods we use to teach students. Diversity and dynamism turned into key factors highlighting the fact that today's students learn in very different ways than our education system was originally designed.
Teaching is now more than a lecturer in front of a blackboard and technology has been an integral part of its development. It has transformed education and the way that people learn and retain information, classrooms are being remodeled and redesigned in many ways to meet the changing needs of today's digital learners.
The possibilities for the technology are endless. As one of the most valuable tools available at our fingertips every day. You can do virtually anything with your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Therefore its role in the future of education is a fundamental part of maintaining the growth and progression of today’s economy.
How important is technology in education? The COVID-19 pandemic quickly demonstrated why online education should be a vital part of teaching and learning. By integrating technology into existing curriculum, as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, teachers can help students acquire the necessary skills to succeed in their careers of the future, familiarizing them with the discovery process for each new tool. Allowing students to learn and refine these skills prepares them for life beyond the classroom.
Technology makes teaching easy!
Theoretical
explanations are not enough. Teachers thrive when
their students master the 4 Cs. You can also watch this
video https://youtu.be/QrEEVZa3f98
• Critical thinking
• Communication
•
Collaboration
• Creativity
These four skills ensure the student's likelihood of success now and in the future. Those who work as a team and can communicate effectively while solving problems are more likely to thrive in the modern workforce. So how does the already overburdened teacher meet a challenge like this? With the help of technology. Classrooms that immerse students in technology are more likely to produce students who master all four Cs. Embedded technology enhances learning by facilitating discussion and group work. Collective problem solving requires critical thinking and creativity. It is a well-known fact that the younger generations love technology, so implementing it in our classrooms plays a huge role in student engagement and participation. As teachers, we just can't find a way to present difficult to present ways that makes the concept clear to each and every student in the class. Technology has this power! Thanks to the audiovisual presentations, students understand exactly how knowledge is applied in practice. The general teaching process is facilitated through the use of projectors and computer presentations to deliver any type of instruction and improve understanding within the class. Technology allows teachers to personalize learning and create different levels of support, rather than simply offering a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching.
Technology can be challenging!
While using technology in the classroom offers several real benefits, there are also some challenges. Successfully implementing technology integration in the classroom is often difficult and requires time, experimentation, customization and support. Schools also often struggle to find meaningful ongoing professional development around technology integration. Teachers can also work to see the immediate personal benefits of incorporating technology into their lessons. Very often investments made by schools and teachers are quickly lost again. By adding technology to the classroom, schools add an extra layer of complexity to classroom management. Also, the devices can become a significant distraction rather than a useful teaching tool. After all, one of the biggest obstacles facing schools, teachers and students is unreliable technology. Even the best prepared lessons can crash if there are technical problems.
To sum up, the integration of technology into education is neither new nor temporary. It is a cornerstone of the advanced world. It's a proven strategy for enhancing learning. The question we should address is not whether technology should be used in education, but what we can do to break down the barriers and allow technology to become more integrated into our education.
Hi Amoreta. You have done a great explanation of the first topic blog!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I like the way you write and how amazingly you combine words with your ideas. You had also touch upon life as a student and what we all went through during pandemic and online lessons, which was managed surprisingly good by technology.
Also you presented with visual images and a short you tube video which was helpful in understanding more of what you thought. Precise, well-organized arguments you have provided with the challenges technology has.
Tu sum up, you did a very good job!

ReplyDeleteWell, it was quite a bumpy ride reading your article, Amoreta. You took us into the intricacies of programming, back to the pandemic times, and then straight to teaching. Those times indeed proved how much we need to seriously integrate technology in the teaching process. But most importantly, how much we need to masters its ropes so we can use it properly (or without applying an embarrassing filter in a Zoom call at least).
Your authentic ideas were presented elegantly, combined with visuals, and informative links. I really like the way you've formatted the article and how you focus on both the positive and negative sides of technology in teaching, but I lost track slightly with the last two copious paragraphs. However, everything else is on point, and I'm sure you'll keep rocking with your posts if you keep up the same pace.
